About the Program:
Clean Beauty Summer School is a ten-week, professional-development initiative to help accelerate unheard voices, minority-owned, small clean beauty businesses hosted by Amy Liu, founder and CEO of Tower 28 Beauty.

Created in 2020, in reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement, Liu wanted to create a program that was the first of its kind in the clean beauty space. She attributed much of her own brand's success to education, network, mentorship, and opportunity - advantages that aren't accessible to everyone. As such, she built the program around these four pillars.

In collaboration with founders and leaders in the beauty industry, Clean Beauty Summer School will provide 10 finalists with access to: live, virtual professional development sessions including networking, one-on-one mentorship, education on the beauty industry, the opportunity to pitch for $40,000 in cash grants, legal, retail sales support and guaranteed buyer meetings with Sephora, Ulta Beauty, and Credo Beauty to help accelerate their businesses.

Together, we are excited to continue making the beauty industry a more diverse and inclusive space by creating access and more importantly, equity.

Program Commitment:

Virtual Orientation session on May 27
10 virtual sessions taught by our expert teachers (1.5 hours/week)
Classes: Every Week from 10-11:30am PST. Events will be held via Zoom on the following dates:
- June 3
- June 10
- June 17
- June 24
- July 1
- July 8
- July 15
- July 22
- July 29
- August 5
- August 12
- August 19
- August 26

Mentorship Sessions: Each finalist will be paired with a mentor and receive a total of 3 hours of 1-on-1 office hours
- These can be scheduled in 1-hour sessions or broken up however the mentor and finalist prefer
- Dates and times will be coordinated directly between the mentor and finalist.

Pitch Day: August 28th
- **Dates are subject to change due to mentor/judge availability

Eligibility/Qualifications:
All applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must be an Incorporated business
Must be a Beauty/Wellness Business (specifically CPG or other hard good, any category)
Must be a Clean and/or Sustainable business or working towards it
Have a product prototype or launched with limited distribution
Available to attend ALL weekly sessions (June 3-August 26, 2025) and Pitch Day (August 28, 2025)
Must be a US or Canada (Quebec excluded)-based business
Must be at least 18 years old as of the time of submission
Must be the owner of the business or co-owner
Must have no more than 3 full-time employees
Must identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, or another marginalized community

*Employees of Tower 28 Beauty and other CBSS mentors' brands along with their immediate family are not eligible for the initiative.
